Supergirl by Curt Swan Challenge

I posted my colors for the Jimmy Cheung Supergirl pencils at a DC message board and one of the posters challenged me to color an old 1961 Curt Swan Supergirl drawing. Long story short, I accepted.

It was a lot tougher than I thought it would be, because the pencils the poster provided was pretty small. I doubled the size of the pencil and colored from there. It didn’t turned out as good as I hoped it would. Oh, well. I’m still learning.

I changed the skirt color to red, I thought it would look better for this drawing.

Supergirl by Jimmy Cheung

I was browsing “Supergirl Comic Box Commentary” and saw another beautiful commissioned drawing for the webmaster of the blog. Supergirl looks amazing like usual. Jimmy Cheung did a great job on it! Again, it was just pencils like the one from Billy Tan. I decided to do my magic and do colors for this one myself too. I think I did a better job with this new one, since I have more experience. Let me know what you guys think.

Supergirl by Billy Tan

I was the reading “Supergirl Comic Box Commentary” blog and saw this beautiful drawing of Supergirl by Billy Tan. He was commissioned by the blog author to do it. I am shocked that he struggle to draw her. I think it came out beautifully. His version is as good as Michael Turner (R.I.P.), his interpretation of Supergirl is my favorite by far.

The only thing I didn’t like about the drawing was that it was just penciling. So, I decided to colorized it myself. Keep in mind that I only have a mouse and not a graphics tablet. I think it turned out decently. This is actually my first time colorizing a sketch on the computer thoroughly.

Here it is the originally drawing.

Here’s my edited version.

Update.

The more familiar I’m getting with GIMP, the more I expect from myself. So here’s the latest one I’ve done.
