My Old Apartment Pictures

Holy shit! My sleeping cycle is fucked up! I can only sleep 4 hours continually at the most, then before work I take a 2 hour nap. I feel wore out when I’m awake. I wanted to make this post much sooner, but shit happens.

The old place I was living at was a small studio apartment. It cost $330 a month. I had been living there since September 1999, the rent first started at $285. I moved out of my parents house and dropped out of school and needed to find a place quickly. It was the only place I looked at. It wasn’t very good, but I loved the location because it was close to downtown. The apartment was empty for a long time, because there were a bunch of calcium deposits in the toilet due to it not being flushed.

I grew used to living there and didn’t mind much. The thing that bugged me the most was that the apartment had bed bugs. At first it was infested, but after it was fumigated it got better. Their bites inch like crazy and the worst is they will bite in rows, annoying motherfuckers! The kitchen was small and cramped, I just couldn’t do much.

After, I got my current job I started thinking about my life a lot. I have been too complacent and lazy! I needed a change in my life. I decided to move to a much bigger and better place, and most importantly in a new neighborhood. I’m happy my goal was met!

Here’s pictures of my old place.

Moving Day!

I got the keys to my apartment on Thursday, August 27th and started moving my shit to the new place the next day. I had asked my brother to help me move, he has a Chevy Tracker (It’s a small SUV). I work overnights (10:45am to 7:00am) and I didn’t want to go to work exhausted. I decided to start moving at around 9am, after I got a little rest from work. I had rested in my new place and walked over to my old place where my shit was.

I called my brother and told him not to eat anything for breakfast. I was going to treat him to pho (I love that shit!) for helping me out. We were both starving and drove to my pho spot, Pho Nguyen. Bad news, it wasn’t open yet! They opened at 10am and I decided to start moving to kill some time. The pho was real good after that first trip. Yummy!

We kept going back and forth from my new and old place about 9 times. We stopped at around 5pm and we were exhausted! The weird thing was that the toughest part of it was just walking up 3 stories to my old place without anything in our arms. We moved all the boxes and most of my belongings that day. I counted 52 boxes total, with 33 being medium to large boxes. I got them from work, I had been collecting them for the past 3 weeks. I would walk home with them after work (No car life is the shits). My friend, John, helped me moved my mattresses before I had to go to work. My brother’s SUV was to small to handle it, not John’s though.

On Saturday, we finished up in about 2 or 3 trips. I treated my brother to pho from another place called Vung Tau. My brother suggested we go to a coffee place called The Meadowlark to play some chess. He kicked my ass pretty bad, and there will be a rematch.

Here are the pictures of the things I moved by Saturday afternoon.

The living room. Look at all those boxes!

New Home Sweet New Home

After a long search, I have found a home that I can call my own. The first place I rented when I moved out of my parents’ home was the only place I looked at. It was crappy, but I liked the location because  it was close to downtown. I had been there since 1999. I found this new place after a thorough search. I toured 9 different places and it was my clear favorite.

Here’s some pictures. I got off work at 7am on August 28th and walked 3 blocks there. I had gotten the keys to it the day before after I paid my rent for September.

My building is in the middle.

Finding My New Apartment

I was talking to a co-employee about our apartments. I heard from him that you can get a decent apartment for just a little bit more than I was paying, which was $330. Keep in mind, the cost of living in Lincoln, Nebraska is a lot cheaper than places like New York City. That put the thought of moving into my head. The place I was living in was a small studio apartment, about 393 square feet.It was built in the late 1800’s. I had been living there for almost 10 years and realized I was getting very complacent in my life. The place was small and cramp with all the things I had been accumulating since I had been living there. I needed to make a change! I loved the location of it, but that was it.

Location of the apartments

I made my mind up that I was moving. I looked through apartment classified ads and craigslist daily. I wanted a place that was at the most 12 blocks (preferably 9) from where I work. It also had to be at th most 2 blocks north of it because I lived 9 blocks north and wanted a change of scenery. I had a bunch of places written down. The irony of all this work was that the place I would eventually get, I saw while biking passed it. My max budget at first was $360, it crept up to $375, $400, $420, $450 then back down to $420. I wanted either a 1 or 2 bedroom that would fit into my price range. I did this for more than a month.

My bike when it was brand new!

My bike when it was brand new!

On August 5th I rode my bike around the area that I wanted to rent from. Since they don’t have prices on the for rent signs, I had to get a good look of all the places. If I liked it, I would write the phone number and address down. I did a grid pattern. My workplace was on 17th st, so I looked west to east from 10th st to 27th st and north to south from 2 blocks north to 6 blocks south to a major street called South St. I covered most of that area on that day and had to stop because it was getting too dark to see any good details of the “For Rent” places. I’m back and better than ever!

balloon-yellowAlso, large and in charge… Big fish in a small pond… Huge dick in a small vagina… You know the saying! Yes, I finally got my internet back. Windstream (my phone provider) sent someone over and sorted out my problems. It turns out that the wires got mixed up.

I’ve been working a lot and don’t have that much energy and time for this blog, but that’s about to change. I have an inspiration now. I’ve just moved into a new place! I had lived in my old studio apartment since late September in 1999. I decided to move out before the 10th anniversary. The place I just moved into is a hundred times better and I am not even exaggerating. I post pictures of it later.

Oh, yeah. I did make this blog to show my comic bookSide Frown I’ve been too lazy to work and improve on my drawing skills. That’s going to be different. I live in a much bigger place now and it won’t feel so crowed anymore.

Welcome back me, Phet!

B-2 Bomber Wallpapers

I haven’t blog very much lately. Been busy with the new job.Frown It’s a lot of work for very little pay, but I have bills to pay. It’s very tiring.

Now, onto the good stuff. I made some new wallpapers of airplanes, I gave them a sketch like effect with GIMP. I decided to buy a Hanns·G HG-281DPB 27.5 inch widescreen monitor when I have enough money. It’s resolution is 1920X1200, so I’ll start making my wallpapers in that size now. From the reviews that I read, it’s the perfect monitor for me. The screen is huge and it’s only $330! Can’t wait!

Here’s the B-2 Spirit wallpapers.
